Global Education

This virtual exchange program connects high school-aged youth in Lebanon and the United States through binational teams to design and build mobile apps addressing global and societal issues focused on the UN Sustainable Development Goals.

The Ciena Solutions Challenge is a global design challenge that invites students and teachers to design solutions to real problems and take action to build a better world.

The Ciena Solutions Challenge Model Schools program is an opportunity for cohorts of schools to cultivate student voice, choice, and creativity school-wide. Each school in the cohort receives professional learning from Digital Promise, a suite of technology for creation and invention, and a support system for running Challenge Based Learning.

The Global Cities Education Network (GCEN) is an international learning community of urban education systems. Working with Digital Promise staff and experts around the world, teams of system leaders collaborate to identify common, high-priority problems, research best practices, and develop solutions that can be adapted to varying cultural and political contexts. Current GCEN members and associated jurisdictions include Bermuda, Colombia, Denver (Colorado, USA), Estonia, Grenoble (France), Joinville (Brazil), Lexington (Kentucky, USA), Ottawa (Ontario, Canada), Peru, Shanghai (China), Singapore, and Surrey (British Columbia, Canada).

The HP AI Academy is a self-guided e-learning course designed to equip educators with the essential knowledge and skills to understand, use, and evaluate generative AI systems and tools. The course was created with support from HP and is based on the Digital Promise AI Literacy Framework.

This blended learning pilot program focuses on improving the capabilities of Haitian teachers to deliver high-quality learning using technology and tools; expanding the availability of culturally relevant, standards-aligned, Haitian-Creole digital content to teachers and students; and improving accessibility to broadband connectivity and electricity for schools and school networks.

This implementation cohort engaged Global Cities Education Network (GCEN) and League of Innovative Schools members in collaborative learning opportunities to share and apply effective global practices to transform education for students with learning differences and to ensure healthy social emotional development for all students. Participants included fourteen cities and districts from across the United States (in California, Kentucky, New York, Ohio, South Carolina, and Utah); Victoria, Australia; Huangzhou, China; and Surrey, British Columbia, Canada.

This implementation cohort supports school districts and jurisdictions to center their most marginalized learners, providing them with collaborative learning opportunities – including a study tour to Helsinki, Finland – and practical strategies and solutions. Participants include ten districts from across the United States (in California, Connecticut, Illinois, New York, Pennsylvania, Utah, and Washington) and Surrey, British Columbia in Canada.

Hosted and designed by Ceibal and Digital Promise, this Implementation Cohort focuses on effective global practices to transform education using new technologies and pedagogical practices. Participants include districts and jurisdictions across the United States (in California, Connecticut, Michigan, Pennsylvania, and New York); Canada (in Surrey, British Columbia and Ottawa, Ontario); San Marcos, Peru; Joinville, Brazil; Colombia; Chile; Honduras; and Uruguay.

The Learner Variability Navigator (LVN) is a free, open-source web application that helps educators around the world find research-based strategies that support the whole learner so they can create better learning experiences for all.

Recognizing the experiential storytelling potential of immersive technologies, the UN SDG Action Campaign, Digital Promise, and Oculus invited emerging creators worldwide to join the global MY World 360° campaign to inspire positive action toward the Sustainable Development Goals.

Learners engage in the micro-credential process on the Digital Promise Micro-credential Platform; this includes choosing a relevant micro-credential, reviewing its requirements, preparing and submitting their application, and receiving their assessed award.

Issuer-partners engage with Digital Promise to design and develop competency-based micro-credentials tailored to the needs of their learner audience.

This professional development program involved training secondary educators in Dalaba, Guinea, to leverage digital tools in low-tech settings to deepen student learning and engagement.

In partnership with HP, Microsoft, and Intel, the Reinvent the Classroom initiative includes three programs that celebrate powerful teaching and learning with technology: HP Teaching Fellows, HP Spotlight Schools, and a global network of Learning Studios designed for student-centered, experiential learning.
